Many local partnerships are helping stop hunger across the country. Making ends meet as a college student is not always easy, which is why many students are turning to food pantries to help them make it through tough times.
A recent national report shows, in the last month, nearly 50 percent of students did not know where their next meal would come from. Recently San Jose State has partnered with a local partnership named Second Harvest Food Bank.
This collaboration to eliminate food insecurity has been very beneficial to many members of the Spartan community. Second Harvest Food Bank has had the chance to collaborate with other auxiliaries on campus to eliminate food insecurity,
Most recent they started a mobile food pantry this semester, where San Jose State students can stop by and take groceries home from the local mobile food pantry hosted on campus by Second Harvest Food Bank.
These collaborations have become such a hit, we can expect the mobile food pantry and other opportunities to continue through the rest of the academic year!
